We have been working with Jenny Wright of McKenzie Baker since we moved into our new home. Jenny has provided us with assistance on various projects including hanging artwork, fabric selection for drapes, pillows, and upholstery, custom area rugs and stair runners, furniture and lighting selections. It's been an on-going project. We are thoroughly pleased with the advice and expertise we've received, the various sources and choices presented, the quality of the work, and the respect shown for our vision. Most importantly, working with Jenny and MB continues to be a complete pleasure. We would highly recommend McKenzie Baker Interiors to anyone in need of true professional assistance.

Full service design consultation was provided from the selection of the interior and exterior paint colors to the selection of all appliances, lighting, bathroom hardware and floor stain color (all home finishes)

Miss Baker helped me with almost every aspect of my renovation. She exceeded my expectations with how she would drop off samples, return phone calls and show up at odd hours to meet my schedule of demolition and rebuilding of my home. She is so easy to work with.

McKensie Baker has been wonderful to work with. They have significant experience in all aspects of interior design, know the best people for all of the various trades (tile, upholstery, window treatments, painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, floor refinishing, etc.), and complete work as scheduled. My project was a renovation of a house built in 1957. My designer, Tracy, really listened and picked up quickly the style I was trying to achieve. The design advice regarding lighting (ceiling fixtures and lamps) was especially superb. My house just glows; it is so pretty. I also received good advice for the purchase of several pieces of new furniture that would blend in with some of what I already had. The result is a polished, sophisticated look that is modern and up-to-date looking while remaining true to the 1957 character of the house.

Patti Baker of Mc Kenzie Baker Interiors has been my designer for approximately 20 years. We started with a new somewhat empty house and our relationship has evolved through many projects over time. Presently I am in the process of recovering living and dining room pieces as well as changing a sun porch to include new carpet, and furniture.
I cannot say enough good things about Patti. Not only is she easy to work with, she is uncanny in knowing my style as well as what will look good and fit in to what I already own. She strives to satisfy and truly, I would not use anyone else. Patti knows me, this house and has made it a truly beautiful home with her knowledge of what’s ‘out there’ as well as what will work. I always receive many compliments on her work in bringing it all together and after 20 years, I still marvel , as I look around at some of the choices and say “how did she do that? ” And I tell her “damn, she’s good!”

My husband and I were very fortunate that our builder introduced us to Patti Baker of McKenzie Baker Interiors in Wilmington, NC. We built a home in St. James, near Southport, NC. Patti worked with us during the entire building process. She met us during walk-throughs with the builder and made many helpful suggestions. She helped to make the process of building and decorating a new home much less stressful than it would otherwise have been! Patti has a wonderful sense for choosing paint colors, flooring, tile, lighting, countertops, fabrics and accessories. She met us at every vendor’s place of business. She has an excellent working relationship with their staff and is very familiar with their products. Patti did not try to force her “taste” on us, but she encouraged us to “think outside the box” on some choices, to achieve a more up-to-date look. She respected our need to work within a budget in certain areas. She is always prompt in answering e-mails and text messages, to keep the lines of communication open. Whenever friends or family have complimented our new home, we have given Patti much of the credit. We would highly recommend using her services.

We worked with Patti while trying to decorate and furnish the great room in our newly build home. She had wonderful ideas and excellent taste, based on what she thought we would like. When a few items exceeded our budget, she was able to offer alternatives that were just as lovely. If the need arises, we will use Patti again.

Kathleen worked with us to decorate our living room and she did a fantastic job. She had great ideas and listened to our suggestions as well. So happy with the outcome!

I found working with Kathleen to be an excellent experience. She is creative, conscientious and respectful of our budget. I have given her short deadlines based on our vacation needs and she always came through.

Tracy Barnard is an outstanding and enthusiastic asset to Wilmington’s Mckenzie Baker Interiors! There were several projects we desired to take on in our new home in North Carolina and make it “truly ours”. Tracy provided a perfect balance of prioritizing projects, providing professional subcontractors, a real keen sense of just what we were looking for with paint colors, textures, upholstery, draperies, carpeting, and even exotic, custom made furniture. Look no further – Tracy is a delight to work with!

We thoroughly enjoyed working with Patti on a number of decorating projects. She combined existing pieces with new items and was very creative in helping us create a fresh look for our home. We will definitely reach out to her again in the future.

I was introduced to Kathleen Abrams of McKenzie Baker Interiors after we finished building our home. I only wish I had met her before the building began. Her knowledge of style and color has really made our house a home and she has brought a coziness that was lacking. We continue to call on Kathleen’s expertise for some ongoing projects. I recently hired Mckenzie Baker Interiors and cannot express enough how satisfied I am. Their talent and professionalism is unmatched. These ladies made our house feel like a home and we are now looking for every opportunity to share it with friends and family. My husband and I have a 7 year old son who is a typical mud loving and destructive little man. I never imagined I could have a beautifully decorated home and have kids at the same time. But these ladies know all the tricks. These designers take your personal situation very seriously with each and every decision so that in the end your investment can stand up to whatever you dish at it. And trust me; my son has already tested it out numerous times. I am so happy with my home now that I can’t imagine ever wanting to leave. But if a move is in the future, I will for sure be hiring these ladies again!

Patti Baker helped us turn a shell of a building into a home! Patti has a gift for the intricate nuances of color; ask to see a light blue for a sunporch ceiling; get 4 choices immediately and a reason for choosing each one. She is efficient and knowledgeable about all facets of interior decorating and also every facet of house building “flow.” She helped us blend pictures and furniture that we already owned with new furniture whose demensions “fit” our new home. She cared about our budget and efficiently met deadlines such as “our kids are coming in two weeks.” Patti wanted the best for us Not the most expensive. She has connections with varied workers and craftspersons in many places in Carolina and the Wilmington area in particular. She helped us to communicate our needs with subcontractors. Patti is hardworking, with a great sense of humor, “a true “women for all seasons.” We have an ongoing relationship with this delightful person.

I met Patty Baker a couple of years ago when she came to my home to re-arrange the living room and do some light decorating. The deal was I could not say anything until she was done….believe me, that was hard to do. With that agreement, Patty went to work while I provided the brute strength and winched every time she placed items in the “get rid of it box”, but when all the work was done, I was amazed. Patty, using my own furnishings, transformed the room into something elegant. I never realized how much of an art, a gift there is in being able to decorate a home. Seeing how Patty could change a room simply by re-arranging had me hooked. A year later we had McKenzie Baker back. This time the work was a lot more intense with tearing out the kitchen, knocking down walls, remodeling the living room, and somehow the guest bedroom. The team leader on the project was Tammy Anderson with who’s vision and skills kept the project on schedule and most importantly in budget. She, with consult from Patty, designed a beautiful kitchen with custom built cabinets, a striking fireplace surround and book shelves. My wife and I are extremely pleased with the professional service and quality of work that we received from McKenzie Baker Interiors and are again looking to them for a future project.

I wanted my downstairs living spaces to reflect a “grown up” life style. We had not done any decorating to our house and our children are grown and no longer living at home. So we hired Pattie Baker to help us achieve this. We had a new sofa made, new window treatments, 2 sofas and chairs reupholstered, new rug, dining room ceiling wallpapered, study wallpapered, bookcases in dining room were remade. Kitchen cabinets were refinished, new counter tops, back splash and center island was repositioned to better function in the kitchen.

I worked with Patty Baker over a period of 8 years decorating my home- She is a joy to work with very professsional helpful oraganized and very talented!
