You have decided to build a new home or perhaps renovate a room or two (or more) in your current home. You’ve started the journey by looking at Pinterest or Houzz, trying to figure out your design “style”. Perhaps you have even created your own Pinterest board to collect items you like. Meeting someone in person is the best barometer for determining the success of the relationship and the project.

Secondly, be sure they listen to you from the beginning. This initial meeting should be mostly you sharing your vision. It’s your home and it needs to reflect you and your personality. It also needs to be functional in a way that works for your family and daily life. A great designer will take the time to listen to your wants and needs and help you understand the process you’re about to undertake. Great designers walk you through the process in the beginning and keep you informed throughout. For any project to be successful, it has to be a”give and take” between the two of you.
